The Grand Championship is conducted the last week of July at one of Georgia's most popular recreational destinations. Atlanta Junior Golf members and their families have an opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of activities, such as golf, tennis, biking, horseback riding, swimming, boating, fishing, etc.
The field is comprised of the top junior golfers in each age group from the 18-Hole Division. Winning this highly competitive 54-hole championship is one of the most coveted titles of the year. This general information about the Grand Championship does not constitute an invitation. Players will receive invitations from the Atlanta Junior Golf staff once all Summer Series events have concluded, typically the week prior to the Grand Championship.
ELIGIBILITY/DIVISIONS: All qualifiers must be current AJG Members. Invitations will be sent to the following individuals: (1) defending overall Grand Champion(s) and age group winners; (2) previous year's AJG Players of the Year from the 18-Hole Division; (3) 18-Hole Division players placing first in their respective age groups in three one-day events, during the current year, and having neither a DNS nor an NC; (4) top three finishers in each division of the 18-Hole Club Championship; and (5) remaining players qualify on points as follows (all ties for final spots in each age group qualify): 18-Hole Boys 12 & Under (top 24), 18-Hole Open Boys 13-14 (top 30), 18-Hole Open Boys 15-18 (top 72), 18-Hole Open Girls 7-18 (top 9).
ENTRY FEE: $225 (includes tee gifts, daily tournament greens fees and range balls, prizes/awards, and dinner following mandatory rules meeting Monday night).
PRACTICE ROUNDS: Contestant practice rounds may be scheduled through the Callaway Gardens Resort golf shop for any day prior to the Grand Championship for $25.00 per junior golfer (plus tax). While not required, many contestants choose to play their practice round on Monday, July 28 before the mandatory rules meeting (the final tee time available to Grand Championship contestant on this day is 2:00 pm). Excluding Monday, July 28, all practice round tee times must be scheduled after 11:00 am. All players must contact the golf shop at (800) 282-8181 and identify themselves as an Atlanta Junior Golf participant to arrange their own practice round tee time. Parents or others accompanying the junior golfer may play at a rate of $40 per person.
STARTING TIMES: Starting times for round one of the 2008 Grand Championship will be available online after 5:00 pm on Friday, July 25. Tee times for subsequent rounds will be available shortly after play for all age groups has concluded each day. Approximate tee times for all divisions are now available on the event home page.
FORMAT: 54 holes stroke play over three days on Mountain View Course. Tees for each age group are: 18-Hole Boys 12 & Under/Girls (Green–5,683 yards); 18-Hole Open Boys 13-14 (White–6,350 yards); 18-Hole Open Boys 15-18 (Blue–6,955 yards).
MANDATORY PLAYER MEETING: All players must attend the mandatory registration and player meeting on Monday, July 28. Player registration will occur between 6:00 and 7:00 pm, with the mandatory rules meeting (7:00 pm to 7:30 pm) and dinner (7:30 pm to 9:00 pm) to immediately follow. Failure to attend either registration or the mandatory rules meeting will result in the player being withdrawn from the event without refund. All contestants are invited to participate in a longest drive contest that will occur during the dinner/cookout following the rules meeting.
CADDIES, CARTS & PULL CARTS: Caddies and/or automotive transportation are NOT allowed for any participants in this championship. Players must walk and carry their own bags at all times. Player-owned pull carts ARE allowed.
DRIVING RANGE: The driving range will be open before each day of the competition at 6:45 am. Practice balls are available on the range and players may access the range without any additional fees before their round each day of the tournament. However, use of the range for practice after 1:30 pm will require the payment of additional fees to the golf shop.
HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS: hotel accommodations may be secured by contacting Callaway Gardens Resort at (800) CALLAWAY. Please identify yourself as a participant in the Atlanta Junior Golf Grand Championship to have access to the following rates: Callaway Gardens Two Bedroom Cottages (Single Rate: $112.50 plus sales and lodging tax), Mountain Creek Inn (Single Rate: $109.00 plus sales and lodging tax), The Lodge & Spa at Callaway (Single Rate: $209.00 plus sales and lodging tax). AWARDS/PRIZES: Awards and prizes will be presented to the top three finishers from each division upon conclusion of the championship. Double points are awarded to the top nineteen finishers from each age group.

REGISTRATION OPENS: Online registration opens at 9:00 am on Monday, July 14.
REGISTRATION CLOSES: In order to be considered by our staff, all online entry forms must be received before 5:00 pm on Friday, July 25.
CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY: No refunds will be given under any circumstances after 5:00 pm on Friday, July 25. Players who cancel before 5:00 pm on Friday, July 25 will receive a refund less a $50 administrative fee.
